There’s a new diner in New Brunswick. Yes, believe it, there’s a 24 hour diner at 1 Penn Plaza, very close to the intersection of Albany St and Easton Ave (right near the train station!). This is cause for celebration, because New Brunswick lacks a good coffee shop like it lacks decorum. A real-life diner is the next best thing, perhaps even better, which is why I am really excited about the new New Brunswick Diner.
Grand opening! Not sure if that face in the window is a reflection, poster, hologram, or delusion.
Endless coffee, endless ice water, endless lemons. Happy already.
My standard diner meal: 2 eggs over-easy. Buttered rye toast is unpictured. Look at those eggs! $3.95. Not the cheapest I’ve ever seen but not bad. A better idea would be to go before 11AM when coffee comes with this meal for free.
BFF #1 got the turkey & bacon club meal for 7.95. I’m off meat for now, but she said it was delicious. It certainly looked that way.
BFF #2.
Our waiter showing off.
The Party Team gets full for $20.
Apparently they are going for an “old-timey” feel, of which the only evidence is the register.
I left feeling satisfied and hopped up on caffeine. I stared at their cake selection as I waited at the register, planning my next visit already. The employees were very friendly and recieving of not only my friends and I, but also the Rutgers Review. They want your drunken nights, sickly mornings, and pleasant lunches all the same, all the time. There are lots of things to eat including a wonderful selection of authentic greek food. Remember: no fast food place beats a local diner. Stick it to ABP and Starbucks. Diners forever! I love you New Jersey!
