The couple of minutes I spent talking to this man made me realize that taking pictures of people at random and occasionally hearing their stories makes me really happy—it almost makes me want to do this for the rest of my life.  But life as an artist is hard, and many of you creative souls reading this must know exactly what I am talking about.

Matt Alexander is a senior majoring in Environmental Science, but confided that his dream is to move to NYC and become a performance artist.  I figure I must have given him a blank stare when he told me his major that he decided to tell me his true aspirations, but honestly I understand where he is coming from.  I hope that his future lies under the name of “Bambi Chenot” and that he gets all the wishes that all of us artists hope for.

I noticed him when I went outside to take a break from my expos class, ‘cause you can do that, right?  And I ended up running back in and getting my camera.  I love how he put this unexpected outfit together and I especially love that I found someone wearing John Lennon sunglasses.  They are such a bold statement that I don’t even think I could wear them without looking funny.  He gave me some great shots to chose from and all I remember from our couple of minutes together was not the lecture I had left behind, but the confidence that Matt brought to me.
